I think any kid who has something forced onto them is going to rebel against it. You did it, I did it, my son does it. It's just a part of trying to assert independence and individualism.
All you can really do is introduce them to it and let them make their own decision about what they like or not. I mean most kids aren't going to like broccoli or brussel sprouts but you should at least provide them the opportunity to try it decide for themselves.
I think my boy is like most kids, he loves music that has a good beat and is heavy on melody. He digs what is hot now, Hannah Montana, the Jonas Brothers and stuff like that. But he also sings along with Franklin's Tower and Fire on the Mountain.
Peace.

Hey Joe. We have something in common. My 9 year old daughter says that " Hanna Montanna rocks!" LOL! Unlike your son she completely shuns the Dead now ( she used to like them ) but I did catch her digging on a Franklin's a few weeks ago. My 5 year old son on the other hand likes everything and takes particular joy in singing Sugaree to bug the crap out of his sister : )

Yes, Hannah is all the rage this year. My sister in law got tix and took my son a couple weeks back. He had a blast. I guess Billy Ray sang a duet with her. My wife was jealous about that.
Siblings tormenting each other, sounds like all is well in your house. :)

I hope she got tix for a reasonable price. I hate scalpers as it is but when they do it to kids then it's extra shitty.

Yep all is well at my house, hope the same for you : )

It was funny, the other day I picked the kids up and put in a Sugaree. Well my daughter didn't catch on but I'm looking in my rear view mirror and all of a sudden I see this HUGE gleam in my son's eye as he starts looking at his sister wondering how long it will take for her to lose it. He loved it.
